Matt joined Sanders • Pianowski, LLP as an associate in 1990 and has been a partner since 1998. He received degrees from the University of Notre Dame (B.A., with honors, 1987) and Indiana University School of Law — Indianapolis (J.D., 1990).

Matt’s practice is concentrated in civil litigation matters, focusing on all aspects of family law, including divorce, guardianships and adoptions, creditors’ rights, and commercial disputes  together with an active practice and concentration in business, estate planning, and estate administration.  He has particular expertise and extensive experience in significant asset divorce cases, asserting the rights of mobile home and apartment communities,  credit institutions and representing businesses in commercial disputes. As part of his civil litigation practice, Matt has represented individual and business clients throughout Northern Indiana.

His professional affiliations include the Indiana State Bar Association and the Elkhart City Bar Association, where he has served as chairman of various committees. Matt is a Member and past President of the Elkhart Noon Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, longtime former Board Member of the Indiana Lakeland Girl Scout Council, current Board Vice President and Member of ETHOS (Encouraging Technology and Hands On Science), Board Member of the Elkhart High School Scholarship Foundation, and is a lector and usher at his church. Matt is a lifelong resident of Elkhart County and is married with three children.
